INSPIRATION TO RETURN TO FILM

Inspiration to Return to Film.

Inspiration to Return to Film.

A few months ago the combat photographer and humanitarian, Tim Page passed away on August 24th. I got to know Tim as a friend a few decades ago, I helped his grand children with fishing gear in return we spent time in studio scanning and printing images from his vast collection. One of which is “Universal Soldier” shot in 1966, near Quang Nghai, Vietnam, this is one of his most iconic images from the war. Though having a hand signed print by Tim is special, spending time in the studio and printing it with him means more than anything.
Tim was a longtime Nikon F and Leica film shooter, his passing has inspired me too return to shooting some film with the original first SLR, the Nikon F. Though I have many cameras in my collection, my 1959 Nippon Kogaku Nikon F with a Nippon Kogaku Nikkor-S Auto 55mm f/1.2, probably is my favourite. Having no light meter, the F requires a hand held meter, for me, the only one is the Sekonic  Studio Deluxe III L-398A , in particular the”70th Anniversary Edition”, a true classic bought back for a limited production last year
