HALCO MAX 2021 CATALOGUE PROMOTION IMAGE

What was originally planned as images for the 2021 Halco Tackle Trade Show Displays, ended up being catalogue images due to the worldwide Covid pandemic. Bit of a disappointment as this and other images to follow later would have looked sensational as huge wall sized prints. Anyway, this and others can be seen in the new online catalogue on Halco’s website.
The Halco Max is a big heavy lure, not the ideal subject for underwater dive photos. This one was a real challenge, at 22 cm long plus hooks and weighing at 180 grams, this lure sinks so quick that is was difficult to get the shot, not only the speed but also so the hooks, split rings and body are perfectly aligned. A few trial runs on getting the right diving angle and the rest is up to the flash system to freeze the action and your trigger finger on the remote.
For this I used a deep vertical tank, three light setup, black reflector and all the lights off in the studio so its dark, only relying on the modelling light on the Godox AD600 Pro for some visual light. Triggering the shot took the collaboration of a Godox X-Pro and a Nikon WR-10, plus hand eye co-ordination to get the lure and bubble trail in the shot.
