Motion creates emotion. Modern Mirrorless cameras are simply incredible tools no matter what brand you use. The ability to adjust your settings and see in real time what you want to achieve is one of the best functions compared to DSLR.

If you read all the blogs, websites, mags etc at present it’s all about High ISO, sharp Lenses, faster focus tracking etc, to capture incredibly sharp images.  While all good there is a lot to be said for slowing down the speed of the shutter, this helps create motion and emotion in the shot and it’s never been easier than ever before with mirrorless.

The Nikkor Z 24-70mm f2.8 S is renowned as the sharpest 24-70 on the market today, its simply an amazing lens but also an incredible tool for creating less than sharp images. Combine it with Image Stabilization and its capable of creating images at incredibly slow speeds handheld like never before.

This image of a competing angler launching its cold blustery conditions was captured at the Australian Hobie Kayak Championships in January 2020. Over a few days of competition saw some extreme changes in weather, one day hitting 44 degrees, the next dropping it the low teens as a strong southerly blew through creating waves, wind and heavy rainfalls.

Final word on this image, if it was captured with a high shutter speed it just couldn’t convey the weather conditions that these anglers endured as the southerly raged.
